Because we’re in a prime location in the heart of Port Macquarie and we work hard and smart on your behalf.
We have a generous 53sqm of gallery space, dedicated lighting, experienced communications and marketing, and a focussed gallery director, Dr Dominic O’Grady.
We exhibit and sell high-quality art by hosting curated exhibitions in a professional gallery that fosters enthusiasm, confidence and trust.
We connect Mid North Coast artists with audiences across Australia. Our supporters are often repeat buyers.
Our location
Luminance Art Gallery shares a forecourt with Glasshouse Port Macquarie. A few steps away is the Glasshouse Regional Art Gallery and the Port Macquarie Visitor Information Centre, where we have gallery flyers on hand for visitors.
We’re in the Garrison Building, 2/26 Clarence Street Port Macquarie, at the entrance to Gowings Port Central, excellent foot traffic.
The Port Macquarie Museum is around the corner; the historic courthouse is across the road. Next door and nearby are some of Port Macquarie’s best bars, cafes and restaurants. The location can’t be beat.
The space
With 53sqm of interior space, Luminance Art Gallery can easily accommodate 16 or more artworks at a time.
We have a 4-metre window fronting onto the Glasshouse forecourt, interior walls of 12-metres.
We installed a new hanging system and new downlights in March 2025. Every artwork is lit like a jewel.
Exhibition options
Full service, commission-free
The full-service option is for artists who prefer Luminance Gallery to manage an exhibition on their behalf.
For a flat-rate, Luminance hosts your opening night launch and provides comprehensive promotions and marketing in the lead-up and throughout your exhibition. The gallery also looks after invoicing and sales on your behalf. Gallery director Dr Dominic O’Grady is on-site during gallery hours and is also on-call for private buyer appointments.
Group shows work beautifully with this arrangement. Every sale you make is commission-free.
Six-artists, group show: $250 per artist per week.
Five-artists, group show: $300 per artist, per week.
Four-artists, group show: $375 per artist, per week.
DIY, commission-free
Artists who prefer DIY can arrange a gallery takeover and manage their own show. Every sale you make is commission-free.
Six artists, DIY group show: $165 per artist, per week
Five artists, DIY group show: $195 per artist, per week
Four artists, DIY group show: $245 per artist, per week.
Gallery representation
By invitation, Luminance Gallery hosts solo and group shows. Participating artists contribute $250 towards launch & marketing costs. The gallery retains 40% commission on sales.
How are costs calculated?
Luminance Gallery is a commercial gallery. We pay commercial rent in Port Macquarie's CBD, plus utilities, public liability insurance, marketing & staff costs. Exhibition costs are determined by those expenses. Artists receive all of the proceeds from sales when they hire Luminance Gallery.
Luminance actively seeks to collaborate with artists, curators and community organisations who require exhibition space. Please get in touch if you have a proposal to discuss.
