Echoes of Humanity
Sculptures by Leonardo Speciale
"We used to create machines to serve us. Now, we shape ourselves in their image. And somewhere in between—we lose the sound of our own voice."
Echoes of Humanity is a series of mixed-media sculptures made from discarded electronics—circuit boards, wires, plastic shells, and forgotten fragments of the digital age. Once tools for communication, these remnants are reassembled into emotional figures: part machine, part human, part ghost.
These figures arrive raw, often broken or withdrawn, embodying a silent tension: machines becoming more like us, and us becoming more like them. They kneel, observe, or hide—not as robots, but as vessels of memory and emotion.
This series speaks not of distant galaxies but of a strange new reality we inhabit. One where empathy is automated, and presence is outsourced to screens. The sculptures interrupt the everyday with a silent, human question: What have we become?
