Jo Davidson paints the hum of being alive
Jo Davidson lives and works on the NSW Mid North Coast. She makes paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, installations, soundscapes and was commissioned to create a sound and viewing Pod for humans visiting GuulaBaa, the new Hastings Koala Breeding Centre.
In a new exhibition at Luminance Gallery, Davidson presents 10 ink drawings she created to challenge human greed. Davidson is also exhibiting a set of paintings that celebrate the hum of being alive.
“The Innocents are the most threatened by rampant human greed and profligate use of resources. They are the most awestruck by and reverent of the intricate majesty of life,” Davidson writes.
“My ink drawings in Shifting Territory speak to vulnerability and disintegration caused by the violent monsters of greed, hypocrisy and corruption.
“My paintings look past the point of prayer to detachment and the hum of being alive in a peaceful world. How blessed and privileged we are here.”
