Entries now open for JOY: an art exhibition in Port Macquarie this Christmas featuring work by local artists under 15.
If you have a young artist in your family who’d like to enter an art exhibition in Port Macquarie this Christmas, if you’re an art teacher or mentor to an art student under 15, please let them know about JOY.
JOY is a curated art exhibition at Luminance Gallery in December 2025. Entries are now open.
JOY is free to enter, thanks to the generous support of sponsors McGrath Port Macquarie, Carlovers Express Car Wash, Wauchope Vets, Drawn to Art Port Macquarie, Canvas Momentz, Alice’s Art Craft & Paper Supplies, and The Seed Art School.
We had great success in Port Macquarie mid-year with the 2025 Young & Emerging Artists Exhibition and Prize. The only thing missing was space for artists under 15, so we’re making good on that by hosting JOY this Christmas.
Entries do not have to be Christmas- themed. We’re looking for work that expresses the artist’s version of joy.
Shortlisted works will be exhibited from 20 November - 24 December 2025, alongside paintings by young local artist Luke Baker and established local artists Rose Burke, Malcolm Harding & Yvonne Kiely.
“The best entries will be shortlisted and exhibited at Luminance Gallery, alongside paintings by Luke Baker, who won the Young Artists category in the 2025 Luminance Young & Emerging Artists Exhibition,” says Luminance director Dr Dominic O’Grady.
“Rose Burke, Malcolm Harding and Yvonne Kiely will also participate in the JOY exhibition.
“These artists are experienced and local. Having their work in the JOY exhibition illuminates some of the pathways available to young artists.”
Young artists interested in entering the JOY exhibition are asked to first discuss their intentions with their parent or guardian.
Submissions can be made online. All works must be available for sale.
