Suzannah Jones

Suzannah Jones lives on a farm in the Dungog Shire, NSW, on Gringai country beside the Dooribang (Williams River). Her work explores the intersection of landscape and memory, reflecting on how formative experiences shape perception and how mark-making fosters therapeutic connection to place.

Originally from Wingham, NSW, Suzannah spent nearly a decade in outback South Australia, where the arid landscapes of the Flinders Ranges and Eyre Peninsula deeply influenced her practice.

Working in regional arts development, she maintains a committed art practice grounded in gesture, place and process, often pairing paintings with written texts drawn from memory and lived experience.

Suzannah has been a finalist in major prizes including the Pro Hart Outback Art Prize and Fleurieu Biennale, and winner of awards including the Dungog Art Prize (2022) and Viola Bromley Prize for Painting (2024). Living with profound unilateral deafness, she shares her farm with her partner, two sons, and an abundance of wildlife.
