Entries close on 5 May 2026 for the ArtWalk X Luminance Young Artists Exhibition and the message from Luke Baker to other young local creatives is: “definitely put yourself out there. You never know what could happen."

It’s free to enter the ArtWalk X Luminance Young Artists Exhibition. It’s open to local young artists across the NSW Mid North Coast. And it’s a great opportunity for young people to exhibit their work and share their creative vision.

Melodie Cicak, 22, has entered an artwork called Beating Heart - My life as I Know It.

“I am a proud Aboriginal woman,” Melodie writes, “born and raised on the mid north coast of Australia. Art is my outlet, the way I can process the world around me. My work is deeply personal, shaped by place, identity, healing and the quiet moments that stay with us.”

Katie Chambers is a young photographer who has entered a piece she called Lavender Light.

“I am a 17-year-old emerging photographer from Port Macquarie. I enjoy capturing and showcasing the beauty of local landscapes, especially the coastline, where light, movement, and atmosphere constantly change.”

Luke Baker won the inaugural Luminance Young Artists Exhibition last year with his painting, Little Bay. He recently featured as Artist of the Month in Port Macquarie's focus magazine.

When Luke was asked what he would say to other young artists who might be thinking of entering their work this year, Luke said: “To have opportunities for young people is amazing, to see people enjoy your art is amazing. Definitely put yourself out there. You never know what could happen."
